  1. Don't breed them if you don't know their genetic histories.  There are already thousands of homeless rabbits sitting in shelters, why make more?

Also, no offense, but if you don't know how to tell if they are male or female, I don't think you're ready to breed them.

  2. It's tricky to tell even the most experienced breeders may make mistakes.

But if you push down around the gentile areas, females should have a slit looking thing, and males should have a dot.

Around 8 weeks plus the males will start to develop testies, so you can tell that way.

If you think you have a male and a female, I would separate them right away, before you end up with a million bunnies.

As for breeding suggestions, I myself want to become a bunny breeder so I'll start you out with some basics.

Firstly bunnies can breed all year round, but if it's your first time I suggest doing it during the end of spring, or beginning of summer, that way you'll have more time to observe what goes on and how the pregnancy goes.

You should always always always bring the female to the males hutch, she may act aggressively towards him, or run away, she may not be ready to breed yet, and if that's the case, you should wait a few days till her gentile areas turn a dark red or purple color, this means she's ready.

But if you don't feel like waiting you can do a force mating, which I don't recommend, so I won't go into that.

Anyway, you should have your eyes on them at all times, don't leave them unattended even for a minute seeing if she's not ready and gets upset with him she may attack him, and severely injure him.

Once he does his thing he should fall backwards or to the side, some males even stand straight up on their hind legs and squeal. After a few seconds, he'll be ready to mate again if she is, but you should wait about 7 hours, then bring the doe back, and try again, just to be sure.

If the conception goes well and she's pregnant, she'll start to build a nest and pull out her fur.

Mark on your calander the date and time you bred her, and I would also mark, her age, and his age, and their breeds, along with ages.

This will come in handy for record keeping.

At 28-31 days she'll kindle, kindeling is giving birth.

A week prior to due date you should do a full cage cleaning and put in a nesting box if you haven't already done so.

At this time supply her with lots of hay and fresh water, and continue feeding her normal ammount of pellets every day, it's been told you can give her half a tums pill twice a d ay for 3 days before her pregnancy so she gets pleanty of calcium.

After you feed her and clean out her cage there should be as little disturbance as possible, move her somewhere where everyone else isn't and where it's quite

don't remove her from her cage at all after the cage cleaning, and limit petting to a minimum.

Every day check to see if the babies are born ,and safe.

Once they arrive, check without touching to be sure each is alive

if one is dead remove it from the cage immediatly.

they will be bor nwith their eyes closed, and with no fur, it's not the cutest thing ever til lthey get to be at least 4 days old.

If mom is feeding them properly, they should have big round tummies, but if they look underly thing you can hind them, get the smallest syringe you can find, buy kitten milk, or goat milk, and heat it up till it's lukewarm

Once it's warm fill the syringe, and feed them a few drops, or untill their bellies are big, hold them upright not on their backs, if held on backs while being fed they may choke and die.

If they aren't completely covered with fur, pick the mom up by the scruff of her neck, and pull out fur from her belly, this won't hurt her much, and will remind her she still has work to do.

Once the babies are about 5 days old, you can hold them for 3-5 minute time intervals, at 1.5-2 weeks, they'll open their eyes and their ears will stand up.

By 5 weeks their ready to be sold, but before you sel lthem you have to wean them, most of the time they'll wean themselves, by trying moms hay, and pellets, if it seems likethey can't chew the pellets, crush some up and consdier adding soem goat or kitten milk, or water, so their softer, and easier to chew for them.

Anyway they will become sexually mature at about 3 months, if their a smaller breed they may be ready at 2 months, therefore males should be sepperated from females at no more than 6 weeks.

Males may fight, so you might consider keeping several cages around for fighting males.

The females don't normally fight, but there are cases where they do, so they may also need to be sepperated.

But the girls can live with mom, but the boys can't live with dad, cause dad may injure or kill them.

If you plan to continue breeding you'll need to buy another buck or doe, or both and breed them to either the previous Dam, and Sire

    Dam-Mom

    Sire-Dad

Or to eachother, you shouldn't breed rabbits that have any relation to eachother.

    No mom-Son

    Father-Daughter

    Brother-Sister

    I don't believe in breeding Aunt-Nephew

    Uncle-Neice

    Cousin-Cousin

Because they will share some bloodlines.

If you breed rabbits that have absoutely no relation to eachother, you'll end up with healthier, and most of the time better looking rabbits.

I suggest, purchasing another buck and doe and breeding them, and also breedign your original two, that way you can breed babies

From litter, and so on and so fourth.

Btw:You can also use rabbit droppings as gardening soil, so you can use it for yourself, or bag it and sell it for a profit.

I also suggest hand making hutches, and going garage/ Yard sale shopping to find cheap or free rabbit cages, I would also post around that your looking for cages, then turn around and fix them up then sell them, or keep them if you need them, maybe repaint, and sanitize, fix the wires, make them better, ect, and sell for a at least 2 dollars more than you bought them for.

As for hutches you can find cheap wood at lumber yards, and you can find other materials for fairly cheap, hutches usually go for $30-50

and if their nice, you might be able to sell for $100

  3. You have to press on their tummies. If you see something, it's a boy! I believe they have to be sitting on their backs. I would look on-line to see a pic of it. That helped me because you don't want to hurt them. Or you could do it the easy way, take them to the vet!!! Haha. That's what I did.

  4. well when they get to about 6-8 months you will notice the testies on the male. when u breed them the female has to go over to the males cage. u leave them in there for a while about 15 min. then take them out. you can put her back in his cage in another 35-1hr.

  5. If you know to identify gender between Dogs, thn can find of rabbit. But till this date what i know is that a rabbit can't be a boy or a girl. Rabbit can eat the things what can humon, its all about you that how you want to breed them. they love carrot very much.
