i got my rat, Zara, today. She came from a quaint little pet shop who's owners raise them themselves in the basement of the store. She's very calm, timid when put in the cage, but calm and curious when shes with me.

I was just laying on my bed, and petting her and she was resting her head on my breast, lol. and just laying there while I pet her.

Is it normal for her to rest her head? I picked her up and took her to my computer desk and she is out and about sniffing all my keys and trying to get in my business. ^_^

she doesn't rest her head anywhere else, is what i'm trying to say.

Is she sick, or just comfortable with me?

  1. Hey

I'd say it shows she doesn't see you as a threat and is really comfortable around you, which is great for a rat you only got today

My rats have fallen to sleep beside/on me before so i wouldn't worry :)

When they grind their teeth it means they're calm and they will also "boggle" where their eyes will look like they're moving in and out of the sockets.

    Hope this helps

  2. Most rats are timid when they are put into new surroundings. And you must be soft for her to lay her head on you :D

  3. Thats what we call a "In ur busy-ness" rat, and she wants to know what you are doing and she wants to know NOW XD

Anyways, if she does it nowhere else, she might consider you part of her mischeif (her "pack") and i must say its EXTREMELY lucky of you to find a rat sweet enough and tame enough to even act REMOTELY like that the first day!

  4. she looks very comfortable with you. wow i wish one of my 3 rats could keep still like that )= x

  5. tht is normal. she has gained YOUR trust but she is getting used to ur surroundings. if it was calm like she never mover then there could be a problem but tht doesn't sound like the case.

  6. dont worry your rat is fine i have alot of pet rats in my house rite now andd most of them are very comfortable with me and the will lay down and rest their head on mee too so dont worry about it and

Good Luck with your new ratt!!!!
