Question:

Is my refridgerator running?

My fridge completely got warmed while I went and bought perishables. ...I think I fixed it...after a ton of work...I took the whole fridge apart and it is too late to call a repairman to check my handy work ...but the temptation to keep checking the freezer that is holding my room temperature chocolate milk is anti productive. I already lost enough popsicles to last the summer. How long until I can tell if it is actually working? It feels colder on the outside, but I can't really tell if it is getting better inside. Please don't tell me to wait. I am typing this because I need to know how long it ought to take a warm refrigerator to chill?

  1. Feel the compressor(condenser) coils(the thin black ones near the compressor that had all the dust you cleaned out) If they are hot then the evaporator coils are cold. The compressor should also be hot and clean and humming because that's where all the heat inside the box went.If the black coils(NOT WIRES) (either on the back or bottom of unit) are not hot you got a freon or compressor problem.Transfer every thing to a different refrigerator because if they are not hot then no cooling is being done inside the box.
