Is my router messed up?

there was lighting yesterday and i turned off the computer and forgot to turn off the router. now when i turn my xbox 360 on it only stays connected to the internet for about a minute or two max. when i dont have the xbox on the computer can stay on the internet. when the xbox wont let me be on the internet the computer internet wont work also , and when that doesnt work i cant even go into the setting of the router.

do you think i should try to get a replacement at walmart or is it something i can fix?

You say this hjappened after a lightning storm?

After every step after step 2 - see if you can connect while Xbox 360 is on.

1)Turn off your Xbox and Computer.

2)Try to reset your router to factory settings,

3)Make sure you have an open nat - for Xbox Live

4)Try to set your security settings to low or off.

5)Check your DHCP lease time - should be under setup or network settings, put it on a high number like 15000 is its low.

If this doesn't work contact the support for your router.

If they cannot solve the problem try to get a better router, like Dlink Dir-655 that wont be effected by future lightning storms, if that is they are frequent.
