Is my rubber tree plant losing leaves because I changed it's soil type?

I started it out using organic soil and money's kind of tight for me right now so I used some miracle grow my sister-in-law had and now the leaves are falling off. I've had this plant for about 5 months and it's done perfect up until now. Is there any way to save Scraggles?

My husband is plant crazy and he is always telling me I am stressing my plants out by bothering them too much, I tend to think he is right because the ones he has hands on with look way better than mine, and naming plants, hey why not they are living too.
