I'm living with a family in St Louis and caring for their 3 children ages 4, 2, and 8 months. I work for at least 9 hours a day but sometimes more and 5 days a week. I do light housekeeping and the children's laundry. I have over a year of previous experience. I pay for my own food and drive them many places through out the week without reimbursement for gas or mileage. I'm getting a salary rate of $400 per week without taxes being taken out. Should I ask for a raise?

  1. I would worry about the tax issue as you may end up in a bad situation with the IRS and State Dept of Revenue. Also I would suggest reimbursement of you vehicle expenses and or standard mileage, but in either case that should be on a separate check and listed as so.

  2. Yes. Especially if you are not being reimbursed for gas. And when you do pay taxes that's gonna cut you pay down to about 300 a week. Meaning you get a little over 7 dollars an hour.
