Is my sepic tank full?

my toilet and bathtub wont drain, but my sinks and washer drain fine. could my septic tank be full? I have already tried lye.

  1. This is not a faulty septic system.  Your washer would have pumped water out through the sink drains or any other easy way out (assuming all fixtures on one level). Sounds like a clog in the drain line. I've had good luck with both 'Glug' and "Sizzle.' If chemicals don't do it, you will need to use a mechanical method to clear the line, like a snake.


  2. circa 1950's homes ( in Ga anyway) put kitchen and washer drains into a dry well. All other drains went into septic tank. What I tell people that call me is to have tank pumped first. It could be full, a problem with field line, or a blockage in line before it gets to tank. I have been on calls where customer KNEW BETTER than plumber and when I snaked line and couldn't get unclogged because it wasn't stopped up, I charged them anyway! If tank hasn't been pumped in 10 years, GET IT PUMPED!

  3. Sounds like you have a clogged pipe. Your septic tank is supposed to be full. It has to fill up in order to drain out to the drain field.
