I was sewing something hard and the piece that holds the needle broke off and I cant get it to stay back on. Do I need to take it to a repair shop? Here are some pictures. Its a Bernette 50.

  1. Yes, it's time for a trip to the sewing machine shop.  Take your receipt and it may be covered by warranty.  You may also need the machine retimed if it took such a blow.

  2. You should visit the manufacturer's website or email them to order a replacement piece. I'm not familiar with your particular machine so i wouldn't know if you can get it at Joann's or Beverly's.  It would be dangerous to sew if it does not hold the needle securely. You can lose an eye. Serious.

  3. I broke a shank on my old Singer and had to get a new one ( hard to find around here). You too may be able to find out from the experts .. here is the site I deal with for all sewing machine repairs & parts.

( you might want to look in your owners manual and know the part number, make, model )

  4. i don't think so
