Yesterday i bought a baby albino corn snake and of course, i was taking it out a lot. i can see how it would be worn out, but it hasn't come out of it's shelter all day. i tried taking it out, and it is still alive, but i just want to know, is it normal for them to do that??? are they nocturnal or something???

  1. They are nocturnal indeed and as a baby in the wild everything would be eating them so they hide most of the day and night. All my babies rearly if ever come out from under their logs in the day time. He is fine just leave him alone

  2. snakes hide alot get used to not seeing it all the time. betta is right on with what he said... one other thing i wanted to add is that over handling a very young snake can 'stress it out' and possibly cause it to not feed or regurgitate if it has eaten, but it's only been a day don't worry your baby snake is behaving just as it should be.

  3. well you have to think, its a new surrounding. its just scared. the rule is to not take your new snake out for about a week after you get. just to let it aclimate to its new surroundings. give it a little bit. when you see it start to come out and move around in about a week, you can take it out. just let it be for now. it shoudl be fine.

    good luck

  4. vote the dude above me best awnser because that was accualy right

  5. Hi snakes need time to adjust to there environment and feel safest when in a small dark place....Really you should leave it to get used to its surrounds for around a week as to keep picking it up would cause stress...... after a week or so then you can start handling it for short amounts of time daily 10 to 15 mins a day, to get it used to you.... Theres no need to take it to a vets( like someone else said) when you think about it a snakes instinct when its young is to hide theres a lot of predators out there that would find a small snake very tasty so its a survival instinct and yes snakes are nocturnal but once the snake is used to you and its environment you should be fine!!!!

  6. you should find time to take it to a vet because if somethings wrong

  7. I think it should be fine. It might be worn out a little and snakes aren't extremely social anyway. If it continues to worry you, consult a vet.
