  1. no he's just growing up some do it faster than others!!!!!!!!!

  2. To me, your son just sounds like he wanna become a rockstar :>

Nah seriously, kids nowadays come much earlier into the pressure to be "cool", you can't tone that done, it's the society, it's normal. Just watch out that he doesn't do anything dumb (trying to dye his hair by himself for example) and let him be how he is.

  3. He is just trying to be like every one else because everyone loves guitar hero, and at some point in their life will want to do something crazy with their hair, but if you try and make him change he will resent you for it and you will push him away. Just let him be himself.

  4. He is a boy boys will be boys....

  5. I'd say that there are limits to what should be allowed...As far as blue hair and a mo-hawk go, do you want him to have blue hair and a mo-hawk?  Would you feel differently if he were 15?  Punky color and 12 year old girls are a little out of his league - But lack of interest in cartoons is a *good* thing.  Desire to play a music interest is also really beneficial.  Its unfortunate that he is independant so fast, but eventually, most kids feel like they're too big to hold mommy's hand.

  6. It's actually normal, average, and contemporary pre-teener attitude. Kids today aren't really that into cartoons, and feel embarassed when their moms bring them to school. They just want to feel grown up. Now, the crush on a 12-year old girl means only two things: either 1) he wants a mother figure), or 2) he just wants to feel grown up.

Wanting to play guitar, to dye his hair blue, and a mohawk hair style just signifies that he has a rok star as his idol. Pretty normal for pre-teener boy today.

He's just passing through some sort of stage, particularly the Phallic stage (Oedipus complex and that) so just let him be.

  7. You should read the biographies of Mozart and Beethoven.  You may have a prodigy on your hands.  As long as you maintain a safe environment for him, I vote for letting him explore.

  8. he is probaly acting this way because of the 12 year-old.  I have a 6 year old and he is very particular about his looks and has been since he was 3 1/2.  I think kids with confidence know what they want and go for it.
