  1. no, kids have different rates.. i learn to language when i was young, and was some what slow in reading and writing but was good in math.. as time went on i became more devolped and right now take the highest classes in school. so dont worry just keep incouraging him

  2. Your son is not a slow learner. He is probably a very talented kid. Children develop at different rates, especially in their learning processes. Remember Albert Einstein? He was a genius, and yet he couldn’t speak until he was four, and failed math class. Teachers even complained about einsein because he didn’t pay attention in class. So don’t worry. Your child may turn out to be a genius too!

  3. I have been teaching my three kids since they were preschool up to now. My eldest is in grade 5.  The best thing to do is tutor your kid in his lessons and especially during quizzes.  Practice reading with him at home.  As of now everyday for thirty minutes I am practising my 7 year old son to read English and Filipino.  Practice makes it perfect as the saying goes.

  4. Albert Einstein they say failed Maths at school. So don't give up on your son just yet. He will learn at his own pace and he will strengths and weaknesses in his learning as we all do. Continue to be positive with him and encourage him to do his best.

  5. Children develop at different rates - your son sounds quite talented to me - two languages at 6 is quite an achievement.

  6. Language needs to be acquired, especially when it is not your native language, it needs to taught (that why children go to school). Math is about understanding the concept. The child must be expose to numeracy, the child must feel: "hand-on" on counting: eg 2 means 2 objects and 3 means three objects and 3 is one more than 2. If your child can communicate will and logical in your native language than he is not slow. We need to judge the child's IQ and EQ in his natural environment to be fair to assess his intelligent. But do be aware of his eyesight or other possible physical or psychological hindrance to his learning.

  7. Each kid develops at their own pace, it can be frustrating to watch, but eventually it will click.  If you are very concerned talk to his teacher to rule out a processing problem.  Most likely he just needs a little time.  There is a great children's book which confronts this issue and it may help your son's confidence...
