Is my sons tongue supposed to be white?

my 5 month old son has white coated on his tongue... is it supposed to be like this from his formula?

i was told i can get meds for him to get rid of it... is this true... or necessary?

  1. It might be thrush.  In that case you would need meds to clear it up.  If you have never noticed it before then it most likely is thrush.

    However, formula can leave your baby with a white tongue....but it's just on there for a little bit.


  2. Well, sometimes formula can tint the tongue white but it its actually coated then most likely he has thrush.  Basically, its a yeast infection in his mouth.  You'll need some meds from the Dr.

  3. my daughters tongue is like that too after she eats. from her formula and the breast milk. its just the color that stains the tongue it goes away after awhile

  4. Check with your doctor to see if it's thrush.  Otherwise, just clean your baby's mouth and gums with a clean, wet cloth or one of those silicon baby mouth cleaners that fits on the tip of your finger.
