I have a girl who falls in love with a vampire (vampire purely because he has to be dangerous to her) and is friends with the mortal enemy of a vampire. But the story is almost like bella chooses jake. Oh, if anyone can think of characters beside vampire and werewolf, please tell me that

  1. I wouldnt say you were copying, I would just say you are getting inspiration from another story. Theres nothing wrong with that

  2. Yes. It does sound like Twilight.

  3. It sort of does..

But maybe, You could use different mythological things..like maybe withes/ghosts/demons..or have the vampires and werewolves in different ways. Like people know about them, and they are/aren't accepted.

Or a really interesting thought would be..The girls and the vampire fall in love, but the vampire drinks human blood.

But some how, he gets through that.

Maybe change some details too, like

Werewolves can maybe talk when they're in werewolf form, they can't hear eachothers thoughts when their phased. etc.

    good luck.

you should post the story when you're done!

  4. No it's not copying. Of course if you really really use things that resemble the twilight sage, it can be considered that, but right now it's just one of those main lines that every one uses. Like forbidden love, those stories are all a bit like Romeo and Juliet but never the same.

And girl falls in love with vamp is also rather common. I bet there are tons of books like that. and I too would put in something to make it even more difficult for them (apart from the whole, craving for her blood thing). And there the mortal enemy comes in. If you make the werewolve a bit different then Jake, for instance take the classic that only turnes during full moon, and make the vamp different (no sunlight reflecting and stuff) Then I really don't see the problem.

    Enjoy writing!! :)

  5. The whole point of a writer is to use HIS OWN imagination to come up with ideas... I mean no offence but do you yourself think that this story of yours is really original?

And also, it involves A LOT of research to write a book. Dont stop on a vampire, a very popular theme nowadays. Research yourself about others creatures rather than asking others to make that research for you.

  6. Well, I'd say that it's close enough that people would look at it and say, "Oh, another Twilight fan is trying to write a book."  You know how many people are trying to write books about human girls falling in love with vampire boys right now?  I must see about ten people a day on here asking for advise on *their* stories, which all have the exact same plot.

It wouldn't really help if you just switched a few details, either...as in "let's see, instead of a vampire I'll make him a ghost, and I'll make the rival a shape-shifter..." it's still the same idea, and people will see through it.

I'm not trying to discourage you from writing a book, but you need to completely clear your head of all the Twilight baggage, and come up with a completely original idea.

  7. I think that is very similar to Twilight and although you didn't copy, a lot of people will think you have so you could change it somehow.

Maybe the characters could be adults and not teens or maybe vampires would be accepted into society instead of being kept secret or something like that.

  8. People these days need to be more in tune with mythology, especially if they're planning to write fiction.  Honestly, vampires and werewolves?  Google mythology, read through some of the sites that come up and I assure you you will find something better than vampires and werewolves.  It's not exactly copying from twilight (which I refuse to call a saga, since it implies a plot), but it's overused in general and quite boring.  Good luck

  9. How about Zombies!

What about a demon in lieu of a Vampire.  Still dangerous, still seductive and potentially s**y.

Think of Gavin Rossdale's portrayal of a demon in Constantine.  Demons can/should be beautiful.

I also agree with The Schwa, read more.  Get to know your mythology (Greek, Norse, Irish Folklore), read your Shakespeare, Milton and Chaucer.

Also, I think, every fantasy sci-fi writer (if not all writers) should read "The Hero with a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell.

  10. Ya it sort of is. Unless you change it a bit, you could just mean to be inspired from it.

I dunno about what fictional character you can use, try to look through myths. I would use a ghost (a ghost resembling a human - also, the ghost is not solid, but it can turn solid to others) (just an idea!)

    you can also use:

    shape-shifters

    mermaids

    banshees

    demons

    centaurs

    unicorns

    elves

    gnomes

    dwarfs

    dragons

    Djinni (Yatcha Poot)

    and many more!

Also, try getting inspirations from other books instead of only this. Lotsa people are trying to write a good romance novel using Twilight as an inspiration. Good Luck! post you story when it is done!!!
