Question:

Is my tree dead?

I have a rapid growing Austree that I planted in May. The first foot from the ground up is green and has new leafy branches but after that, to the top of the tree it is still the kind of orange color it was when we bought it. The branches at the top seem dead and dry. Should I wait until fall and cut the trunk down to where it is green? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks

  1. Yeah fall will be starting its dormant season so let it ride for now. Check every week for brittle branches that break. Break them off b/c they are dead. Find the point where it stops and cut.

  2. Hi if I understand your question right the top branches are yellow or dead. I would say just trim all the orange and dead branches off. Leaving the greens one there. When you do that when the tree sucks up water it will not be waisted on the dead and orange colored branches. Letting the tree grow faster.

    Good luck !
