i have an old toshiba tv in my new apartment that has comcast cable. there is a coaxial port in the back and i have attached the cord but i don't get any cable channels. is it more likely that my connection is bad or that my tv doesn't support cable? how can i figure out the problem? i'm considering getting a new tv anyway, but i don't want to until i'm sure my cable connection is ok. the cable works on other tvs in the house so i know that's not the problem.

  1. Make sure that all of the settings in the TV are okay. If your TV allows you to select whether you want Cable TV (CATV), or over the air TV (AIR), make sure that the setting is set to CATV, or CATV1.
