Question:

Is my vision really bad?

I am pretty young, 12 years old actually, and my vision is -3.25 on each eye. I have been wearing glasses for about two years, since May of 2006. I go on the computer a lot. Is there anyway I can improve it?

  1. I would say -3.25 is a mild prescription.  As the first person said, myopia (nearsightedness) usually progresses through your teens.  It should stabilize in your twenties, though.  Computers can cause eyestrain, fatigue, and headaches, but they don't permanently change your vision.  Unfortunately there isn't really anything you can do to stop the progression, but laser surgery may be an option for you when your prescription stabilizes.  :)

  2. Unfortunately, no. At your age, your correction will likely increase at each exam over the next several years. However, within the next couple of years, you should be able to get into contacts.

  3. Thats pretty bad. Mines 3.25 and it's bad.

  4. Mines worse. I'm 14 and have bi-focals. They say by the time I'm 20, I'll be lucky not to be blind :-( .
