Question:

Is my water still too hard to drink?

I recently switched to drinking my well water. It starts off with a lot of calcium. We filter it twice. It's 300 feet deep so there's no micro-organisms in it. Just a lot of minerals. Before, my diet had very little calcium for the past few years. My stool lightened a year or so ago. For the past week, it suddenly got dark again. Is this a symptom of calcium excess and possibly zinc/ iron problems, or does it just mean I'm finally getting the right amount of minerals again? I hate going to a doctor for a blood draw because they believe if you aren't showing severe symptoms, come back when there's something they can fix. I'd rather do the right thing before I have any complications. I am showing small white spots on a couple of fingernails, but I used to have much larger spots when I was a kid with no health problems.

  1. Dark stool is a possible sign of too much iron. I would definitely get a "water test" so you can know exactly what is going into your body, and your families bodies.

  2. If you have a well I'm guessing you live close to agriculture.  If so the chemicals from the fields can run into your well.

To be safe I would install a reverse osmosis system under your sink for drinking and cooking.  You can get minerals from your food and supplements.  Which you probably wont get all you need from a well any way.

Get on a good fish oil like Nordic Naturals. they are about the best.
