hi

recently i have noticed, i pronounce " th" without my tongue touching my teeth.

but i have seen some natives ( for example Madonna) put their tongue between their teeth to pronounce " th" ( for example thunder)

i am sure that Madonna is doing it right, but i am not sure about mine.

ps: by recording my sound i understand that my " th" has almost the same sound as dose natives.

  1. i have sat here for a couple minutes now saying every TH word i can think of.  This, That, Those, With, Bath, etc.  every single one of them I find my tongue separating my teeth.  i'm not sure what kind of sound you're coming up with.

a lot of the foreign people i speak with on the phone seem to just make words sound like they end in T, or begin with D.

    good luck, keep practicing.

  2. you have to pronounce like a "f"

fe: Thunder Gramatically it would be /Fonder/, that's all

  3. People from varying cultures have grown up hearing different sounds, and often have trouble differentiating sounds.  The classic example is the east Asian interchangeability of "L" and "R" or the Spanish "B" and "V".  My parents came to the United States from Hungary and cannot, under any circumstances, make that "TH" sound.  In any event, people do not typically judge a person based on their accent as it comes to intelligence.  To hear someone who is clearly foreign speak the English language with high level vocabulary and correct sentence structure shows that the person is educated.  In any event, if it sounds right, it probably is.
