i am 48 and my mate 32 and he flatly contradicts on topic after topic;the fact that he does not have the raw intelligence is not what is catching my eye here but the fact that if he thinks that he knows more than me at a younger age means that he is saying he is brighter tha n me and that is not very polite;also i come from ireland in the sixties where you did not contradict your seniors right or wrong;he insists that he is not insulting me and i tell him i dont want to see him;can you tell me how it is done these days as i think he is a punk but i am aware that is unrealistic

  1. I'm assuming were talking "mate" as in friend, not boyfriend, girlfriend, or spouse.

No, friends are supposed to have MUTUAL respect.  That means you're friends because you value his opinion.

  2. Well first of all just because you are older doesn't mean he can't express himself but I am sure if you just listen to him and talk about the situation you will find that he might just know some things you don't!

  3. To be fair he is a guy. He probably does not more than you.

  4. find someone else, preferable older
