I've seen that people who suffers from narcissism are usually people with a lot of energy (never really lazy for anything) with a great sense of humor and very hard working...why do so many people considered it as something "bad"?

  1. It depends what you want to be remembered for...Hitler and Clinton where both narcissistic.

  2. Well, i've never met a narcissistic person in my life so i can't tell you. Just like the 0.75% of people in the entire world suffers from this, so....

  3. Being in love with yourself and only able to think about yourself is not productive is it?

  4. I know many lazy narcisistic people. But hard working or not its bad because they have no regard for other people.  They beleive they have the right to do anthing they darn well please and that they can justify their actions.  They dont "suffer" from narcisissim, its other people they come in contact with that suffer because of their narcissism

  5. being condifent and loving yourself is great!!  But narcissism is loving yourself to the extreme which is not  a cute or attractive quality.  It is classier to be a little more humble about yourself while still being confident and self loving.  I know someone who is narcissistic and is horrible to be around because he only talks about/thinks about himself and is therefore selfish.  On the other hand, my friend katie is incredibly smart, pretty and funny.  She is confident, but never brags about her accomplishments, which are numerous and impressive by the way.  She loves herself but doesnt shove her fabulousness in other ppls faces which makes her look even more fabulous because there is a grace about her.

  6. Narcissists tend to only see the world from one perspective: theirs.  It's a flaw because it means they simply can't sympathize or empathize with anyone's situation unless they have experienced the identical drama--and if they're in a group situation, they will do anything they can to turn the conversation towards themselves or topics they can easily dominate.  For example, a friend of mine had a bridal shower and one of her guests, who was pregnant, constantly complained about being pregnant and kept trying to steer the conversation towards her pregnancy, its progress, and so on, despite the nature of the event.  That is classic narcissistic behavior.

Everyone is narcissistic--a well-developed awareness of self is healthy.  However, narcissists take this one step further and refuse to acknowledge that other people and their needs/hopes/dreams are as important as their own are.

  7. Im not really sure, but I guess it depends on the situation. People only stereotype it as bad because its about loving yoruself

  8. Narcissism? Do you mean heightened self esteem? Because that's not what "narcissism" when mentioning personality disorder usually means. The latter is a form of malignant narcissism a complex disorder at the foundation of which is a malformed understanding of self and inability to validate/accept themselves which is masked by a defense mechanism resembling over heightened self esteem and overvaluing of self. The difference is where some narcissistic features can be useful as a disorder is it an emotionally and otherwise disabling proposition.
