Is natural pine bedding okay for Syrian hamsters?

Question

My mom says that only cedar is harmful to Syrians, and so that's the only bedding I use, but a lot of people (like family members) keep saying that pine is bad too! I just want to know which one is bad and if both of them are bad what kind of bedding should I get.

natural pine is bad for hamsters and i would say you should get carefresh or aspen but mostly aspen

You should not use pine.

It is not considered as dangerous as cedar, but pine has still shown some evidence of causing respiratory problems in small animals. Aspen is a much better choice.

DON'T USE pine bedding for syrians. It has sharp shavings and can hurt the hamster's feet. Also the dust from the bedding can cause respiratory problems for the hamster.

Use only aspen shavings or carefresh for your hamster bedding.

Personally my hamsters love toilet paper. Make sure that the toilet paper you give them is untreated / unbleached and does not have any fragrance in them. Also if you are using toilet paper for the first time, closely observe the hamsters for a day or two to rule out any itching or allergy that the papers might be causing them.

Don't throw away the empty tubes after using the toilet roll. Give them to your hamsters and watch them have great fun playing with it. I once put a whole roll of toilet paper inside and both my hammies had great fun ripping them off and spreading them all over the nest and using the tube for their games.

Both are bad,the BEST kind is aspen

you can also use the paper ones 2 and more but NEVER use pine or cedar it causes resperatory problems...
