Is natural talent enough to make a great cricket team or not? (Part 5)
(Continuation of the previous discussion in Part 4, regarding the fact that natural talent is enough to make a great team or not. Topic in hand is the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 cricket team)
At present the biggest problem with Zimbabwe’s cricket is the fact that no exposure or experience in the relevant cricketing departments is being given to the team. Previously, the team used to play competitive cricket, with other international teams, but
now the Zimbabwe cricket team is seen playing against Associate countries such http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745. There is no doubt that without competitive cricketing exposure and experience the little greatness left in Zimbabwe’s cricket
will gradually fade away.
West Indies and Pakistan
West Indies and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 are kept in the same bracket as the two cricketing giants have the same problem of having too much of talent and no channelized or systematic cricketing structure.
However, the other important ingredients of becoming a great team is present in both teams, as they have a vast level of international exposure, experience, excellent coaches, a great deal of cricketing sense and a plethora of talent.
Both teams have the ability to rapidly change the result of any given match, as the teams are filled with match-winning talents.
The only two things that are stopping them from becoming a great cricket team, is the mere fact that no proper infrastructure or system is present. There is no grooming at the basic level, as a result, players have short nerves. Previously, the same problem
of nerves was present, but there senior players, through international exposure and experience, were able to deal with pressure situations.
Above all, since the advent of cricket in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 and Pakistan, more than 60 per cent of matches won by them were on the basis of sheer natural talent, rather than team effort or professionalism. Talking about professionalism, the two might be the
only World cup champions who to date maintain professional cricket standards. There cricket is based on luck, chance and natural talent.
Nevertheless, the problem of minimum exposure and experience is not yet that prominent to the international arena. But given a few more years it would be evident to the world of cricket.
Bangladesh
The reason behind discussing http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 at the end was done for a reason. The Bangladeshis are the only Test playing nation, which has all the ingredients such as a cricketing sense or capacity building, sportsmen professionalism, coaching, exposure or experience
and work hard.
The only thing their cricket lacks is natural talent, which in the beginning we discussed isn’t enough for international teams to be great. But in this situation, the Bangladeshi team is one of the few cricketing teams of its kind. The only thing, which
is keeping them behind all other international cricketing sides, is their inability to bring new talent to the cricket ground.
One of the major differences in the quality and greatness of the international cricket teams is the mere fact that countries like http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, England, and to some extent the Indians plan for the next 20 years. Unlike, West
Indies, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh, who primarily aim to safeguard the team’s interest in the immediate near future, rather than focusing on the bigger picture.
All said and done, one can only hope that international teams which rely highly on natural talents will also look at the well-thought of and justified ingredients to take a team towards greatness.
