  1. Just to correct a posted answer...its a bank owned by (not the other way round) Royal Bank of Scotland and is a publicly listed company on the UK Stock Exchange(a PLC)

They are a bank and I disagree that they are a good one.  I know several people (all youngsters) who were mis-sold unsuitable but expensive accounts with monthly charges and who are still waiting for a refund - the bank has admitted the fault but done nothing about it after 3 years (they claim "staff error" was to blame!)

  17. They are a bank. They started out as two separate banks, the National bank and the Westminster bank.

    They joined together to become the National Westminster, then the NatWest.

    They are owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which in turn is owned by a huge American financial group, which is why the RBS is feeling the pinch over the sub prime mortgage fiasco in the America.
