These people are stupid and please don't listen to them. Yes, Nautica is a preppy brand. It is one of the more classic ones along with Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Tommy Hilfiger, etc. Brands like AE, A&F and Hollister are not really preppy to be honest. For whatever reason, the new interpretation of the style is not very classic or classy for that matter. Hope I answered your question.

i'm sure nautica sells some preppy items that would compliment your wardrobe. personally, i don't consider it to be labeled as "preppy" in general. i have a very preppy sense of style, as my parents are from new england and i grew up on the east coast. i consider some preppy brands to be ralph lauren, lilly pulitzer, j crew, lacoste, and vineyard vines. of course pieces of clothing from all over can fall into this category, though, it's just about how you put your outfit together and keep it simple and classy.
