I don't know about anyone else but i feel this new song handlebars is a very political song. I mean its a great song and i love it. I just find it funny how people can be so oblivious to the meaning behind songs and just say, "omg! i love this song!" with out understanding the messages its saying. Anyone else have a view on it?

  1. i think the handlebars song is about how a task so little and innocent as "riding a bike with no handlebars" turns into how the potential of one human causing a "holocaust".

i think its also telling how our nation has evolved from "scratching a record" or "making a comic" into being able to "guide a missile by satetilite".

and also how the president has so much power over everyone else.

they can "have anyone go to prison, just cause they dont like them"

and every human has the potential to do multiple examples in the song... so what makes it any different if they are able to "split atoms" or "end the nation in a holocaust"

my intake on the song at least

  2. a lot of people "love" songs without ever listening to a single lyric..

  3. I think the lyrics represent the arrogant attitude of America towards the rest of the world

"I can hand out a million vaccinations

Or let'em all die in exasperation

    Have'em all grilled leavin lacerations

    Have'em all killed by assassination

I can make anybody go to prison

    Just because I don't like'em and

I can do anything with no permission

I have it all under my command"

    Also the chorus

"I can ride my bike with no handlebars"

could be talking about George Bush saying he 'rides his bike with no handlebars' or leads his country without caring.. Just my thoughts on it!!

  4. The Meaning of this song is political and this was taking from the link below.

The song "is about the idea that we have so much incredible potential as human beings to be destructive or to be creative," Flobots' MC Jonny 5 (a.k.a. Jamie Laurie) told MTV. "And it's tragic to me that the appetite for military innovation is endless, but when it comes to taking on a project like ending world hunger, it's seen as outlandish. It's not treated with the same seriousness."

The lead singer claims to have been inspired by his experience learning to ride a bicycle without using his hands. "I felt triumphant," expressed Jonny 5, "but at the same time, I knew there were people at that moment who were being bombed by our own country. And I thought that was incredibly powerful." It is the contrast between these "little moments of creativity, these bursts of innovation," and the way these ideas are put to use "to oppress and destroy people" that the singer feels is both "beautiful and tragic at the same time."[1]
