Did you see what they've done to the Miss America Pageant??? Will the next generation be totally lacking of "traditions"?

  1. no.. i havent.. sorry.. what did they do?

  2. No

    No

    No

  3. No, I didn't see. Deenie, are you saying that the Miss America Pageant did something alternatively scientific or mathematical that didn't sit well with you? LOL :)  If the host asked any of those girls a question on science or math, I think you'd see smoke coming out their ears. Now THAT would be fun to see.

  4. I might have seen the Miss America Pageant all the way through once in my life.  I don't recall ever thinking of it as sacred.

I think traditions of all sorts have probably fallen by the way.  Likely as not tv will make up some more for future generations.

  5. i'm so curious how you chose which topic to put this question in.

  6. Of course "Nothing" is still sacred.  This country is full of people who worship nothing.

  7. Um, a corporate marketing creation like the Miss America Pageant is just that, a corporate creation...like MacDonalds's TV commercials. It's not part of our culture except peripherally, it's not a "sacred"  tradition, and it's not something to get one's nickers in a twist over. Get out more, you have been watching too much TV. :)

  8. I know what you mean Denie, but things change.  In my opinion the Miss America show--and all pageants for that matter--is just a cattle call anyway, so it's never appealed to me one way or the other.

  9. Nothing has ever been "sacred".As long as there are pageants and beauty contests women will never truly be equal.

  10. No, nothing is sacred anymore.

I didn't watch Miss America, however, I have recently watched "Miss Congeniality" with Sandra Bullock (my wifes choice of movies). That was enough pagentry for me.
