  1. well the answer is yes. They are very good investments provided you go for long term investments.

  2. Utilities in tough markets are almost always a good bet. With nuclear, there is only one answer. Yes. Many states, the latest being Kansas and soon Missouri have passed laws within the past couple of months allowing for the utilities to charge costs of building new facilities to customers.

This is a huge incentive for utilities to return to the nuclear option. Concentrate on companies that already have operating facilities, as those properties will be the first to be expanded to additional capacity. At .25 cents per KWH to produce, it can't be beat.

  3. As a long term investment it surely is

  4. Is?  NO.  Are?  YES.

  5. Yes I would think so

  6. Depends on who will be prez. McCain yes, Obama Buy oil stocks!

  7. I think nuclear energy is going to improve in the future, not short term, but rather long term, like maybe 20 years. People hear the word nuclear and think mushroom cloud. THAT is the ONLY reason people are so against the industry. Of course, things like Three Mile Island and Chernobyl didn't help things either. And there is a persistent problem of how to handle the waste products which has not been adequately addressed yet. However, with ALL the problems, it is mainly the fear mongers pushing mushroom cloud which is the deal breaker at the moment. Every other problem is simply a matter of logistics and engineering, all solvable in the short term in my opinion. The longer and the worse the present oil pricing situation goes on, the more likely people will "get over" their mushroom cloud fear. Of course, it is these same people who are ignorant of the fact that pressurized water reactors like the ones we have in the US can NOT explode like a bomb and flatten the countryside like Hiroshima and Nagasaki as it is physically impossible to explode in that kind of nuclear sense for a pressurized water reactor. Melt down into a red hot pile of slag? Yes. China Syndrome? No. Scatter radioactive material all over the place? Yes, but not from an explosion like a nuclear bomb, but rather more like Three Mile Island and Chernobyl did, through clouds of steam carrying gasses and particles into the air. So, yes, eventually, people will become educated about the true level of risk, and the engineering problems will get solved, and the waste handled in some manner and the fear mongers pushing mushroom clouds will eventually lose credibility and nuclear related stocks will improve and more plants will be built to add to the energy supplies that will be lost when oil declines and the pressure for more energy rises. Internal combustion engines are going to DIE as a means of transportation. At least the ones powered by oil products like gasoline anyway. All it is going to take is TIME and higher priced oil to drive nuclear stocks UP as more power is in demand.

  8. Medium term, probably. In the long term, they'll suffer like oil company stocks are likely to in the next few years.
