Question:

Is oil going to burn away our stuff?

I was amazed to see how many things are made from oil biproducts. Everthing in your living room from your couch to your tv has some sort of oil. I was just thinking, our great great great granchildren might not have empty livingrooms, because if we keep burning oil as a fuel, there wont be anything to make their stuff with.

  1. I think so...... I'd say yes.

  2. I'm sure my great great great grandfather was worried I wouldn't have a TV.

Like back in the 1800's when they only had black and white TV and books to read, I don't think they aasted their time on crappy thoughts like this.

  3. Unfortunately, some political leaders do not have the vision like you do. Their terms are long over before we run out of oil.

  4. There are alternative materials that could be used, and likely will be.

In the short term we are not running out of oil but we are running out of low cost oil, so more costly materials will become cost effective to replace oil.

Most plastics can be made with soy instead of oil, but of course we may prefer to eat the soy oil products or use them as motor fuel, making soy more expensive too.

There is going to be a lot of adjustment, and one of them is going to be using less fuel, and less of a lot of pre-garbage we cart home from wal-mart today.
