Is one 40 watt speaker loud enough?

I'd like to buy a cheap pair of cieling speakers, 40 watts each. I want to put one in my bathroom, and one in the kitchen. Is a single 40 watt speaker loud enough for the bathroom? I have a decent yamaha reciever, 5 x 100W.

Number one you have to conside the size of the room.  Secondly you have to consider what is loud enough for you.  Something that is loud enough for me does not mean it is loud enough for you.

You need no Any Speaker !! Your voice is enough even without Loud Speaker...!!! Surely....!!!!!
