Is online buying safe?

Question

I want to buy something online. But my dad doesnt think its safe, as you have to put your card number in etc.

Im 13 and he says i dont understand lol.

Is it safe to the people that do buy things online?

The website i want to buy something off is either amazon, zavvi or asda.com

The sites that u have mentioned r safe as i have bought of them.  

You have to make sure that the site has the padlock in the coner of the page, as thia means that it is a secure page.

It could be that your dad is just sepeckail about buying stuff online as sum places aren't safe, but again the 1's u have mentions are safe, so u should be ok.

I shop online all the time! Amazon is really safe. I have never had them make a mistake before and most of the stop is a cheaper price then other places. Show your dad the site and explain it to him.

The web sites you mention should be quite safe as long as your computer is properly protected with security software, there are various ways suggested to prevent being caught up in on line fraud.

Never by software downloads as they can be pretty tricky and not all sites offer a disc copy backup, i now personally do not buy anything on line except a few bare essentials like alternative meds, you should check the site you wish to buy from has a backup telephone number, a secure server for orders (this appears as HTTPS on the url with a padlock and check their security certificate details) also see if the site gives their full address.

You can sign up on certain sites for visa and mastercard validation service for extra protection but paypal should be used when available.

i have used amazon for years, im sure its fine, but if your dads not happy its a difficult one, trying to persuade him may be difficult, good luck,

Amazon is definately safe; been buying off it for years.

Make him make a paypal account, that way they do all the work and the website never gets his credit card number. The paypal website will explain it.
