Okay, I live in California and got a job at a frozen yogurt store (I'm a guy). When I went in for training, there was one other person (female) there. When I went in for my first official day, I worked in the kitchen and cleaned tables. On the girl's first day, she received cashier training (that wasn't at the standard training). I noticed that girls only seem to work cashier, and guys just do everything else. Is this discrimination and/or illegal? Please provide a government source is possible.

Please note that every staff member at this store does a little bit of everything. There aren't any exclusive table cleaners, greeters, etc. So the fact that only guys aren't doing cashier just seems odd.

  1. It does seem like discrimination. Talk to the manager about working on the cashier...see what he/she says

  2. it's because the girls are lazy bums who let the guys do all the work that they don't want to do while they sit and push buttons every minute or two.

  3. That's how it is at the eating place here. Girls are cashier, guys are everything else. Try talking to the manager.
