  1. yes I know what you mean?no wonder they can afford all the lovely gear and white teeth must be laser at a grand a visit?

  2. Just splashed out £139.50 for this year's "entertainment", I was seriously considering binning the tv because of the rising cost, now seeing that pair giggling away I wish I had, mind you it's not just them it's the whole BBC1 breakfast news lot, more like CBBC most mornings, ah well there's always 5live.

  3. It's not so much the TV license that bothers me about the presenters at Ascot, it's the false sense of space and freedom to roam around the course, without feeling liked a squashed sardine in a fancy outfit, that they portray that bothers me.

Many people are tempted into going to Ascot believing that they will have access to all the areas shown by weather presenter Carol Kirkwood and Sports presenter Chris Hollins, but this could not be further from the truth.

They do most of their presenting and interviews from the Royal Enclosure, where you have space to breath, view the horses in comfort and eat in astronomically high priced restaurants, people are there to see and be seen and they pay premium prices for the pleasure.

Venture into the General Admissions (and this is not a cheap enclosure by any means) and you will find yourself fighting for a good view of the racing, queuing for ages to place a bet, finding it almost impossible to get a seat, and the toilet facilities are abismal, hard to find and there are not enough of them.

Lets see Miss Kirkwood and Mr Hollins out on the Heath amongst the real punters instead of as you say 'lording it up' in the Royal Enclosure.

In my view its free publicity for Ascot Racecourse and they want their venue to be shown in the best possible light, so they are more than pleased to welcome the BBC to showcase the event.

The truth is that if you can't afford the Royal Enclosure...don't go, stay home and watch it on TV and actually get some value from your license.

    xx

  4. what the h**l is a t.v license??

  5. The BBC have the broadcasting rights for Ascot, so I doubt very much that they pay extra for the presenters to be there.

I don't know why people complain so much about the license fee!  It works out at less than 40p per day and for that you get at least 6 tv channels, numerous radio stations as well as the BBC website.

Not bad value for money if you ask me.

  6. of course.

  7. it bothers me more that they use the money for blowing up caravans on top gear and to pay Johnathon Ross 18 million a series and i love both programmes.

  8. I often wonder about how we spend money sending people to places like that for no real reason other than to cater for a few niche people. It really annoyed me last week that there was a reporter reporting on the wedding of Rooney and his bint, from the place in Italy, when they really couldn't get anything worth reporting on than an interview with a restaurant owner.

Apart from which, how many people really care, should the Beeb be proliferating the "cult of celeb".

So how much did that all cost. Probably a few grand at least.

  9. we dont have to pay for a tv licence in australia mate, but who knows what they do with the money! :)
