You already know the reasons: (1) A collapsing economy; (2) Clueless, venal politicians; (3) Endless wars; (4) A dispirited citizenry; (5) disaster after disaster in changing weather patterns; (6) No trust left in Washington; (7) and an endless array of other problems too numerous to detail.

  1. Whatever comes, I fear we are all going to live in interesting times. Especially if h-ll breaks loose in the middle east between Israel and Iran...

  2. Yes, the USA is on its deathbed. There is no hope of recovery. Within the next 100 years, there will be a revolution because "ordinary" people will no longer tolerate Federal/state governmental agencies interfering with their individual right to live--the right to raise their family as they see fit,  the right to school their children as they want, the right to smoke on their property, the right to grow their own corn without permission from the government, the right to provide for their family by hunting deer, bear, alligator, beaver, and any other wild animal, the right to buy a gas-guzzling automobile if they can afford one.

The American people of the past have allowed the government to control our lives. The young people of today, who will be the adults of tomorrow, are not going to allow our bureaucratic government agencies to control their lives.

  3. If you believe that, you have no idea what our country has been through historically.

::Geeze, this forum has turned into an absolute loon factory the last few weeks.

  4. 1. recession is a cycle not a collapse

    2. politicians know exactly what they want, citizens are clueless

    3. wars have been going on since the cave man

    4. speak for yourself

    5. weather has always gone through the same patterns

    6. again speak for yourself

    7. you see what you want to see

You sound depressed, but that doesn't make your dim view of the US reality. Bet there were plenty of people ready to give up during WWll, glad our parents had hope and tenacity.

  5. lol why are you guys so emo? Yeah we hit a rough patch but its not like it hasnt happened before. Welcome to the real world little miss sunshine where things does not always go your way.

  6. In 1980, inflation was 10%, interest rates were 15% and unemployment rate was 12%.  All 3 significantly worse than what we face today.

You need to stop listening to the main stream media propoganda and start thinking for yourself.  A review of history might put things into their proper prespective.

  7. As a fellow American, I find this very sad, but I'm afraid it could be so.  Things just seem to go from bad to worse.  I have asked friends I have in other countries what they really think about Americans in general and I'm sorry to say none of them had anything good to say.  I think the morale of the American ppl is at an all time low and I don't think anyone is really trying to do anything about it.  Politicians are only interested in votes, they really don't care. If they did, there wouldn't be so much useless rhetoric.  We can all use a lot of words to say nothing, you don't have to be a politician for that. I agree with all of your points, they are definitely valid, unfortunately no one is really willing to address them with any real answers.  I wish I had the answers but I simply don't.  I believe, though that we are definitely on a downhill spiral. We garner no respect anymore in the world and that's dangerous.  To answer your question more succinctly, yes we are on our deathbed, and slim to none chance of recovery.

  8. No, the US is not on it's deathbed.

We have weathered more than this, Civil War, WWI and WWII we have dealt with depression, Civil Rights and well? A dust bowl climate!! So no the US of A will continue and will strive, so we have hit a couple snags in the road, that is what we do, we move on and we deal with it.

Just you watch we will make it

  9. No. George Bush is the Anti-Christ, and before his term ends, he will offer the entire USA to his lord, Satan.

  10. There is so much manipulation in the political arena that hardly anyone can be sure of the future of the USA. It seems like we are finally being bombarded by a force that has us by the balls; The financial market and the oil companies. Before we finally say goodbye, let's first give our thanks to President Bush and his Administration for finally succeeding in bringing the U. S. economy to its knees......

  11. I'm just going to say this as many times as I can or have to.

If the People spent half the time reading the Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and all those House Bills** and Executive Orders... as they do reading People Magazine... the US would be very different.

If the People knew half as much about their politicians and their rights as they do about Paris Hilton's favorite mini skirts... the US would be very different.

If the People had half the balls as the signers of the Declaration of Independence............................... this government would have been overthrown and replaced again by a government OF THE PEOPLE!!!

we can't blame the people we elected then ignored.. we or the only ones to blame.

"A Republic... IF YOU CAN KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... - Ben Franklin

** just because a H.B. is called 'The Cute Kittens Act' does not mean that it's not intended to destroy your rights

  12. As long as there are still children, artists/poets, and "bleeding heart liberals" alive...

As long as intellectuals and scientists still ponder great mysteries...

As long as someone still loves someone else, and some heart still sings with nature's music, and some soul still soars on dawn's light wings...

As long as some young and some old recognize that the "gap" between them is really a bridge...

As long as even a few people understand that those things which appear to "divide" us are only illussions - that the only reality is relationship, and that each of us is responsible for the quality of our relationships with each other...with our self...with the earth...with other life forms on this earth...with nature...with all that is...

...then there is hope.  There is always hope.  Enlightenment comes in a flash.  Decision takes but an instant, yet it  changes everything forever.
