Do you believe our economy is screwed? It seems like it's just getting worse and worse, and some say it's not going to get better.... What do you predict for our country, and our deteriorating economy? Another Depression?

  1. Theres no where to go but up regardless of who wins the next election

  2. people like you make me so tired.  you cry like h**l in this little situation, however, this is NOTHING like the problems our nation has faced in its history.  remember the great depression, WWI, WWII, the oil crises of the 70's and 80's, etc?  However, we are still here.  So why are so many people thinking that this little minor bump is going to get us down?  Especially now that the economy is showing signs of comming out of this economic slump?

We are still the big dreaming, hard working people that we always where.  Americans work the longest hours in the world - which is documented in many studies.  Also, we bring the most work home with us, and when times are tough, we are not affraid to work harder to bring home the bacon - just as many people are currently doing.

Instead of crying about our economy, cry about or government, and go out and vote.  Obama '08.

  3. Yup because the American people wont do anything to stop it.

  4. lol all good both ways :)

  5. No it is not.  It is common and completely understandable to feel scared about the economy.  However, too often cynics and media (anchors, reporters) use words of doom and fear and cause so many people to be worried about the economy.  Yes it is bad and yes people should be concerned, but not overly afraid and frightened.  The economy will come back and get better. :]  I heard that the economy may grow (recover some) at the end of the year.  In addition, it is non-abnormal for a economy to go into recession or close to one, it is normal for economies to go through recessions or slow times..

  6. I wouldn't go as far as saying a depression but I fear the worst is nowhere near.  There are many contributors to the big picture.  Obviously the first one that comes to mind is the rising cost of energy which is driving the inflation levels beyond what the average consumer can bare!  Another would be the downfall of the autoindustry in North America.  That has really hit hard down the chain in the manufacturing sector.  One thing that has really hurt Canada's economy especially in the manufacturing sector is the Canadian dollar coming to par with the US dollar.  I think it will eventually get better but its gonna get a little worse first.

  7. Yes you hit the nail on the head . Forget any ideas of these politicians solving the problems for they have created the problems . It be best to go back to the original concept that you have to take care of you self and loved ones . An I do mean to the basics .

  8. Perhaps all the hedge fund managers, the financial engineers, the builders of gas-guzzling SUV's, and the builders of $500,000 mansions will have to become farmers and oil workers.

Shuffling money around from place to place doesn't produce any real wealth.  And making things that waste natural resources unnecessarily only makes everyone worse off in the long run.

I think the standard of living will go down for a lot of people.  And a lot of people will need to change their careers.   But eventually everything will work out well, just as it did after the last depression.

  9. Recessions are a normal part of the business cycle, and always have been.  We have the strongest and largest economy in the history of the world.  The media perpetuates a 'sky is falling' mentality.  The economy will rebound and we'll have growth again within 12 months, trust me.

  10. No. Our economy is in more of a chronic, flat-growth situation right now as opposed to an actual recession. We are used to seeing acute pain as far as recessions go, and it usually involves a fast dive in gdp growth, a bottom, and then growth. Right now, we are experiencing more of a chronic pain, with flat growth rates, and slowly rising unemployment.

  11. sadly the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. the middle class are getting screwed royally.
