Question:

Is our society ready for a black president?

I think the society that we live in spends too much time focusing on the color of people's skin rather then the attributes that they can contribute to different things. Men are more quick to say that women suck at things, but do they really or is that something that has been put into the minds of men and boys since they were younger. But are we really ready to be led by a man from a race that has been looked down upon for 400 years. As a black male, I don't think the white majority of our society is ready, because they still want to pick McCain mostly because he's a republican, but even more because he's white. So will people be able to get past the racial differences and accept that we might have a black president?

  1. The sad part is, You, and many others miss the point. We shouldn't have a black President just to have a black president. Obama is a novelty at best. If Colin Powell ran, I'd vote for him, because he has experience on the world stage, but Obama has been an Illinois senator and a Senator from Illinois to Washington, one term apiece, and that's just not good enough. If he had more experience I might vote for him, but I won't vote for him just so we can make the distinction of having the first black President of our country. The record books aren't why we should vote for people.

  2. No, i dont think so.

  3. I had my doubts.  I'm still not so sure.  I really didn't expect Barack to make it this far, but he has, so that has given me hope.  On the other hand look at all the negative comments that's come out about him. People are coming out with straight up lies and you know it's nothing but racism.  Especially when we've heard nothing negative about McCain from the media.  All the experts say that Barack should be leading the polls by a landslide and yet he's barely ahead of McCain. Makes you wonder.

  4. Why wouldn't it be?

  5. I am. I say it's about time.

  6. Black, yes.  Socialist, no.

  7. I truly hope everyone can grow up and get past the race issue. I agree with you completely. I support Obama and anyone who votes for McCain simply because he's white has no class. Racism, in this day and age, makes no sense... but it's there. I really hope Obama is elected.

  8. A black man can be president, but I really don't know if society will change.  I also don't think that society in America is really ready for a female to become president.  McCain has his own views, but the whole of America doesn't always agree with him.

  9. Is our society ready for a Black Golf Champion?

Society is never "ready" for change, but you change it anyway.

  10. They can't even admit that they don't like him because he's Black, so they say he's a "socialist" or some other code word they like to use.

  11. Liberalism is what is harder to swallow here. Think about that too.

  12. People have gotten over it. The majority are looking at the issues. A Socialist or a hard core liberal never does well. Will you be able to look past Obama's skin color and use your judgment on where he stands on the issues?

  13. Yes.  But society isn't ready for a socialist.

  14. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
