  1. Its scriptural

The exact phrase of outer darkness was found in 3 verses, shown below: these are the only appearances of these words.

    --------------------------------------...

Mat 8:12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

    --------------------------------------...

Mat 22:13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast [him] into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

    --------------------------------------...

Mat 25:30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  2. I use the word "h**l" ...just like Jesus did.

  3. no only methodists and pentecostal.

  4. generally a Mormon term.

While other religions could use the term, it's attached to a doctrinal explanation that comes from the New Testament but isn't discussed by any mainstream religion outside of the LDS church - that doctrine being that there are levels and degree of heaven just as Paul discussed but there is also a status outside those degrees of glory called outer darkness where there is no glory.

So others may use the term as it's biblical; but in thier case it's a substitute for the word "h**l" which doesn't normally match up with the LDS notion of h**l.

EDIT:  Rev Albert Einstien, a few of us got that attempt at humor.
