I am looking at buying a fairly expensive radio and wondering if I should wait until after the transition from analog to digital.That is if there is going to be a change.If there is going to be a change,does anybody know when this will happen.

  1. HD radio (in the US) is too little, too late - and poorly planned and executed. My advice, like Gear's is... wait. See how it all plays out. maybe invest the money in a combined XM/Sirius receiver sometime next year and just pay the small subscription fee. It's already worth it to me, I suspect in 6-9 months there will be better deals and better receivers.

  2. TV is going digital to give more unused space for "public safety" aka police,fire and such to have frequencies.. plus more info being broadcast over smaller allocation

    Radio isn't going all digital in the US or Canada anytime soon.. TV is easier to convert to digital as most TVs ain't portable or in cars like radios

    They are experimenting with digital (In Band On channel or HD radio) but no plans on changing status quo any year (to go digital only) soon as most hometown broadcasters couldn't afford the switch even if they wanted to... And one of the reasons it hasn't been pushed... the DTV was pushed by the TV people and the FCC for their agendas
