Is overweight caused by tonsillitis?

Well my daughter was overweight and suffered from tonsillitis.  One doctor said that it can cause a small number of children to be heavier.  She had them out over 3 weeks ago and I have noticed a big difference in her weight.  She has always been on a diet since her weight gain (which started the same time as her tonsil problems) so her food intake is the same.  Now she is losing weight and beginning to look more like a normal little girl.  So does it cause weight gain? Well maybe not for most kids but it did seem like the cause of my daughters weight gain.
