Is owning a airsoft gun illegal in san francisco

a friend of mine owns an airsoft rifle, and he recently moved into san francisco where we both now live. i've always wanted to buy an airsoft rifle but he told me they are illegal in san francisco. I have searched online and haven't found anything that says so, just wondering if anyone knows if it is in fact illegal or not

What I would do is call the court house or the Sheriff's station, & ask

for some guidelines, if anybody should know it would be them.

I've read rules, and it is illegal in parts of San Fran, go outside of city limits, people mistake them for real firearms.

An airsoft gun is NOT a firearm in the legal sense. It is NOT illegal to own one anywhere in the United States including San Francisco.

The problem arises from the hysterical crew that also lives there. When they see anything remotely resembling a firearm, they panic, call the cops and swear that there is a mad man on the loose killing everyone around. whether or not that is really happening.

Soon enough, San Francisco is going to be in front of the Supreme Court just like Washington DC was.
