  1. Before you obtain your dog, read a couple of books on keeping and training a dog.

  2. Yes. Owning a dog is a very time consuming commitment. Be prepared for getting up several times during the night, and getting up very early in the morning. You will need to be able to stay home with the dog everyday for the first few months it lives with you, you will need money for the vet, toys, food, all of that stuff. If you are admitting to being lazy, a terrier is definitely not for you! They are energetic as all get out!

No yorkie is cheap. Check www.petfinder.com for a shelter you can adopt from.

  3. I'm 22 and have no kids. My female min.Dachshund is my baby. It takes alot of patience to own and especially train a dog. I got mine when she was about 6wks old she is now 7 months old and just starting to get the hang of potty training. Also my s*x life has slowed because she is either right there in the room or going nuts wining @ the door. I loved my pup to death and i'm thinking about getting another in the next year or so. I can't suggest a good place to get one cause i'm in IN but if/when you do get one look into puppy training. We did @ petsmart and loved it. She can sit, roll over, stay, come, and lay down now. It is a good investment. Good luck finding your dog....I'm sure you will adore him/her when you get him.

  4. Yes! especially a puppies. For you, I suggest you adopt a rescue adult dog.

I should know how hard it is! I own 3 dogs, a mutt, a shih tzu, and a Golden Retriever puppy. ON top of that I own 3 cats, and I am fostering a litter of 6 kittens and their mom.

You MUST have the time and commitment to get a dog. You have to housetrain the dog (or puppy) to begn with. This goes on top of all the training, grooming, etc....

PLease wisely make this decision. Don't just buy a dog for "fun" and realize how hard itr is. That is why thousands of dogs end up in the shelter each year.

    Good Luck on your decision!

  5. No not really.I have 2 dogs and there very loyal to me except when you have to pick up there p**p!!!

  6. I don't know what you guys do to your dog saying its hard work. I have a dog and its not hard work at all. I feed her, pick her p**p up every so often, and play with her. And its all worth it. Yorkies are really exspensive $$$$. Do some research about them on the internet. And google a breeder next to you.

  7. What do you call hard? I wouldn't say it's hard work but there can be quite a lot of it if you do it right, especially when they're very young or very old. The hardest part is probably doing things that the dog needs when you don't feel like it, such as taking them for a walk when the weather's lousy, and being disciplined enough to do other things that need doing at the time they need to be done. That sometimes means right now, not in an hour, or today and not tomorrow.

  8. Dogs are a lot of work. You need to feed them, groom them, take them out for walks everyday, and train them (e.g. train them not to potty in the house, train them not to chew up things in the house, train them behave well when guests arrive, etc.).

Dogs are also quite expensive. The initial cost of buying the dog is very little compared cost of maintaining the dog, e.g. vet bills, toys, food, training classes, training equipment, grooming equipment, etc. The cost of initial vaccine shots could cost you from $500-$1000 just in the first few months.

One thing you can consider is to volunteer some of your time at your local SPCA or shelter. That way you get to spend time with some really nice dogs, without any extra cost to you, and you also get to do something really good for some dogs in need. You can also get to know the dog people in your neighborhood and volunteer to feed, water, and/or walk their dogs. They will probably even pay you for it - and you can save up that money to buy a dog later on.

  9. yes all dogs are hard work, especially the smaller ones.

    and no dog is cheap.

  10. Yes, owning a dog is hard work. You should check out this article '5 tips to consider before getting a dog' before you purchase your precious little one. http://blog.forrent.com/pet-friendly-apa...

I do have to tell you that being a dog owner is the best! I love my little guy!! Just have to be prepared to take care of him/her. It's a commitment, but totally worth it!

  11. All dogs are work. Depending on the dog, they can be a lot of work. If you're very lazy, then don't get a dog. Dogs need daily walks, play time, grooming, training, socialization, and this will be an animal that will be part of your life for over ten years. Dogs aren't cheap either. If you're lazy, you need to stick with animals that need less attention. Dogs are exactly like children.

  12. i had 7 dogs in my lifetime 1 which was a yorkie yorkies are stubborn dogs and very hard to toilet train i say if your looking for a dog any brreed i would check your local newspaper

  13. Yes. I got a miniature pinscher 3 months ago and after the first week of having her I wanted to give her back because it was like having a little kid.I love my dog to death now and wouldn't give her away for anything. I don't know if I would get a yorkie. I haven't seen many friends have good luck with them. I don't think you'll find a cheap yorkie anywhere. I would try the ASPCA website or LA Animal Rescue or go on puppyfind.com.

  14. you cant get a yorkie for cheap. there is no such thing. and why would you want a yorkie anyways, its like owning a glorified rat. it cant fetch bass, run with you, or cuddle.... its worthless and fragile too!!! get something bigger..... you want a dog right? not a rodent...? if you are lazy get a chocolate/black lab... they dont require much, but are awesome dogs. thats probably why is a popular breed of a doggy to have. i have one and love her!! yorkies are a lot of work, plus when you get mad at it for pissing on your floor you cant kick it cause it will prolly break on you! hahaha

    good luck
