Is owning a manual car in New York City bad?

a lot of people tell me its bad because of the traffic and could mess up the engine and klutch since you shift a lot.

in my opinion yes the clutch will take more wear than normal. I would be more concerned with your leg lol. I live in atlanta and  once sat in rush hour in a firends car  that was a manual and swore i'd walk b 4 i did that again.

You'll be pretty busy.  Clutch...shift...clutch...shift.  There are 2 possible things that can happen.  1) you'll get used to it; or 2) It will drive you crazy.

There will be far more than normal wear and tear on the clutch and possibly tranny.  An automatic, under the circumstances, might be a better choice.
