Or is it a partial protein. What about whole grain WHITE (not wheat) bread? What non-meat products do i have to combine (e.g. rice and red beans) to get a complete protein. Is milk a complete protein?

  1. pasta is carbohydrates... ^^

  2. The protein in pasta and bread is wheat protein.  Grains can be paired with legumes to complete the protein.  However, you should know that the whole idea of protein pairing is like 20 years out of date.  Even the author of Diet for a Small Planet, who popularized the idea acknowledges that it's not at all necessary to pair proteins in a single meal.  All you need to do is eat a variety of protein sources over the course of several days and your body will do the rest.  If you have a balanced diet, the completeness of any protein is not an issue.

  3. OMG, all these idiots think that "pasta is a carb". How nauseating.

If you eat nuts, beans, lentils or any other legume, it will balance out the protein that is found in the pasta.

  4. Apparently quinoa is but combining food to make a "complete protein" is not necessary.  You don't have to consume all essential amino acids at once.

I don't know where people are getting their nutrition info when they type their answers..whole wheat pasta is a wonderful source of protein.

  5. Think about pasta the same way you think about rice.  It tastes great, but you need other sources of protein, too

  6. The wheat gluten in whole wheat pasta is an incomplete protein. If you add: beans, tofu, or chopped up boca burger it will be a complete protein.

With the exception of soy beans, beans and grains are incomplete proteins and need to be mixed to make a complete protein.

EDIT: The question was, "Is pasta a complete protein." and It is not.

  7. pasta is not a protein

    milk is a protein

    beans are proteins

    tofu is a protein

  8. pasta and bread are carbs NOT protein.

u will need to add beans to the bread to make it complementary protein and cheese to pasta.
