Yes. Pathan started off as an excellent fast bowler. He improved his batting and became a useful batsman. Pathan's best came against Zimbabwe in the 2005-2006 tour, in 2 test matches, he scored 84 runs and took 21 wickets. Against Bangladesh, he played 2 test matches and scored 9 runs and took 18 wickets. Against Sri Lanka, he played 3 matches, scored 202 runs and took 7 wickets. Against Pakistan, he played 10 test matches, scored 385 runs and took 27 wickets. He played 3 matches with England, scored 121 runs and took 8 wickets. Against Australia, he played 6 test matches, scored 197 runs and captured 14 wickets. He played 2 test matches with SAF, scored 88 runs and took 3 wickets. He also played a test match against West Indies in which he scored 19 runs and took 2 wickets.

Pathan had a lot of promise but did not deliver his full potential so far. He needs to be encouraged as he has the potential to provide all round performances. He needs to improve his fielding.
