  1. I think it might create pressure and give the wrong message about why learning is important.  It might also be de-motivating to kids that are lower-middle class who would look at that and be discouraged.

  2. I think it's brilliant. Nobody is gonna go to work for Popsicles and lollipops. If your check stub this week was a coupon to baskin robbins you would take your employer to court. It's the way the job market works, and that's where they are headed. It's sad, but they will learn the value of a dollar eventually, for now just get them to that high paying job with an education. It's worth a sacrifice to have someone living comfortably for the next 60 years. Or pay them to go to church.

  3. I wouldn't use money to do this.

Maybe there is another way you could get them motivated. Have special days where you buy them a special lunch or snack if they've been attending and have attempted to do well. What age group is this? High School is definitely more difficult to get motivated than the younger classes.

  4. Hello,

If you pay them and they go and do well,  you have not only motivated them... you may have helped to provide food or clothing for their family.

Some people are motivated by sheer necessities...

It is not such a bad idea.

Maybe somebody who can make that happen will read your question.  :))  Let's hope so.

  5. There are Pros and Cons to this... but when it comes down to it we all work hard to get PAID. I think it could help.

  6. I think we should pay ALL children to go to school.  Some countries (e.g. Netherlands) pay their students to go to college while here in the U.S. we have families mortgaging their homes, going into debt, and struggling to pay for college.  Some don't go to college at all for the lack of financial resources.  And that's a shame, because as a society we all benefit from an educated population.  We should start paying children in kindergarten and continue right up to PhD. programs.  Now THAT would be tax money well-spent!

  7. you might put some context around the question.

    parents?

    city?

    school?

    teacher?

    i pay $100 for an A and $25 for a B.  quarterly.
