Is paypal a good way to transfer funds to myself?

I need to transfer left over funds from my Irish bank account from my european trip into my normal Australian bank account. Both bank accounts are linked with my 2 paypal accounts (1 for ireland and 1 for Australia) Will this way be cost effective?

Yes it might be cheaper in fees then transferring from bank to bank.

At the bottom of the PayPal page there is a cluster of links, one of which says "fees".  This will tell you the percentage for your transfer.  Besure to add in a 2.5% conversion fee if necessary, and a 1% cross border fee.  

The conversion fee is if you are converting Euros into Australian dollars or some such.

You will want to check Paypal's site to see if what you're trying to do will incur the percentage fee.

Transferring shouldn't be too costly, in any case.
