Paypal is part of ebay. You buy from ebay and pay through paypal. I have used paypal for over 3 years and found it to be a good safe way to pay for my ebay purchases.

It is trustworthy (in terms of letting them have your details) but I have found it difficult to get my money back from fraudulent transactions and it ended up costing me money to prove my purchase. They are also hopeless at answering questions without spouting generic terms and conditions at you!!!
