Is per diem counted when figuring income for WIC?

I'm hoping another driver's wife will be able to help me here. When figuring income for WIC, does the per diem amount get added to the gross income? I know it didn't count on our 1040 form but I wondered how WIC would handle it. Thanks for any help.

  1. No, that is their meal/lodging check.  It is for them to be able to live off of.  If it is a separate check then it doesn't.  Since it isn't counted in the W-2s then you don't have to give it to them.  You aren't actually living off of this money.

  2. WIC counts any income.

  3. They only ask for pay stubs. I'm not sure how per diem is given. It's easy to hide income from the WIC office.... it sounds horrible, but I'm sure many working mothers say they don't work and only show their husband's pay.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just go in, give your husband's pay stubs from the last month and they'll tell you if you qualify.

    Good luck!
