Is percocet a sulfa drug?

That's what I thought "sulfa being antibiotics", but I had to ask to make my friend feel better.

  1. No, it isn't.  Sulfa drugs are antibiotics.  Percocet is a pain killer.


  2. no im allergic to sulfa drugs and they prescribed percocet to me after my C-Section...i didnt take it for more than a few days bc it made my heart beat weird..i hated it!!!! it didnt make me feel better at all

  3. No. It is an analgesic drug not an antibiotic.

  4. No.  Percocet is oxycodone (pain reliever) mixed with Tylenol.

  5. Percocet is not a "sulfa drug". Some antibiotics are sulfa drugs (such as Bactrim, Septra). Drugs other than antibiotics can also be considered "sulfa drugs" and can cause allergic reactions in people sensitive to sulfa. Examples are Lasix and hydrochlorothiazide. There are others so check with your pharmacist.
