  1. http://www.exrx.net is a great site for exercise!

Here is their page on weight training exercises for the back.

You might want to check out this page, too.  It tells how to design a weight training program.

A healthy exercise program addresses all five aspects of physical fitness: aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, muscular strength, flexibility, and body fat composition.

  2. Go for it.  Deadlifts and Pulldowns are a great combo for your back.  Whether conventional deadlifts or stiff legged (with sllight bend in knees) hits your lower backs, hips, glutes, hams, traps, forearm (its basically your whole back side from neck to heel).  Of course, pulldowns are your prime lat movers.  So, yeah, if you had to pick just 2 back exercises, you picked two winners.  Good Luck.

  3. Include rows and you are set.  Make sure you pull with your elbows not your hands

  4. It depends how much you work the front, as long as you work them aroudn the same you should be good.
