Is petroleum more valuable in petrochemical applications than as a fuel for transportation? Why?

  1. No, if it was, it would not be used as a transportation fuel.  This is the way free markets work.  If petroleum had more value as a petrochemical feed stock, then all of the petroleum would be sold as petrochemical feed stock, because the sellers want to make the most money.
